Gratitude

Gratitude is a lesson in humility – being thankful and feeling abundant in all that you have right now. Writing down just three things you’re grateful for everyday creates a mindset shift and allows you to see all the good you have in your life. It steers you away from negative feelings about what you don’t have and forces you to see how abundant you truly are.

Sleep

Getting enough sleep isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. Skimping on sleep can take a toll on your mood, energy, focus and your ability to handle stress. Be sure to unwind before you go to sleep – meaning time away from screens and devices, for a minimum of 7 hours solid shut eye.

Move

The mind and body are inexplicably connected. When you improve your physical health, you naturally improve your mental and emotional wellbeing. Physical activity releases endorphins – the feel-good hormone! Endorphins help to relieve stress, improve memory and help you sleep better. It’s a win-win. Aim for a minimum 30 minutes of activity a day to start but find something you enjoy doing!

Purpose

Finding purpose and meaning in your life, in biological terms, is essential to brain health as it helps to generate new cells and new neural pathways in your brain! Your purpose should drive you and give you a reason to get out of bed every morning. There are several things that you can define as your purpose.  it is the reason for your existence, Here’s a short list to consider, to get you started.

  • Think about the legacy you want to leave
  • The difference you make to those around you
  • What drives your passion
  • When you are at your happiest
  • What your vocation in life is

Talk

Sometimes life can get a bit too much, and sometimes there’s only so much you can do on your own. Talking about your feelings, and not just to anyone who will listen, but a professional, can help break down those barriers and they can offer you effective tools and strategies to help you on your mental health and wellbeing journey.
