Ted is one of our Culture & Leadership Partners, located in sunny Brisbane, QLD. There must be something in the water up there!
With more than 30 years’ experience in retail sales and as a General Manager, but mostly as a successful franchisee, leading high-performance teams within a high-profile Australian retailer. Ted has served as an officer in the Royal Australian Navy and has a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Wollongong.
Aside from his extensive work experience, Ted’s favourite quote is
“Before you can walk a mile in another person’s shoes, you firstly need to remove your own.”

His favourite books are:
- A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
- The Resilience Project by Hugh van Cuylenburg (added to the reading list!)
Before Ted starts any workshop, he takes a 30 minute ‘gratitude walk’. This allows him to foster a mindset of purpose and humility. Inspired by Stephen Covey’s words “begin with the end in mind”, Ted believes the ‘end’ of a workshop is less about the hugs, smiles and handshakes, but about the positive impact he, and the people he works with, bring to others once they leave the room.
His weekends start at 4:30am Saturday (yep, you read that right!) for a 5:30am boot camp then a 6:30am PT session (crazy!). While he’d much rather be fishing, there’s a little voice that says ‘you do this because you’re investing in your future.’ This leads to his mantra:
“Is what you’re doing right now an investment in your future? What does your future look like?”
